MAKING AN IMPACT
YOUR SUPPORT BUILDS OPPORTUNITY
We create & sustain quality affordable housing opportunities for mid-Michigan residents to find a place to call home.
In 2021, we invested $5.3 million to construct 5 quality affordable homes in Lansing for aspiring homeowners and preserved 32 apartments for our most vulnerable community members.
Nine homeowners in Lansing's Northtown Neighborhood received exterior enhancements like new roofs and front porches to maintain the structural integrity of their homes. In addition, 56 homeowners throughout mid-Michigan received energy efficiency upgrades such as furnaces and water heaters.
HOUSING & FINANCIAL COUNSELING
We offer one-on-one tailored guidance & support with our HUD-certified counselors at no cost to address residents' housing needs and financial stability regardless of income.
In 2021, 736 households were served by our housing counseling team, helping families become financially self-sufficient and secure a safe, affordable place to call home.
75% of clients served are considered low-to-moderate income and are now on track to achieve their housing & financial goals.
HOME IMPROVEMENT RESOURCES
Take part in our engaging educational workshops and utilize our tools that equip residents to improve and maintain their homes and neighborhoods.
300+ tools were borrowed by our neighbors through our Tool Lending Library program - equipping them to maintain their homes. We also took our Tool Library on the road to 4 neighborhood clean-ups to enhance the quality of Lansing neighborhoods.
Our Tuesday Toolmen volunteers improve the quality of life of our elderly residents and people with disabilities by installing accessibility modifications in and around one's home - often at no cost to those who benefit.
Over 40 accessibility ramps were built in 2012 by our dedicated Tuesday Toolmen volunteers to help our neighbors get in and out of their home safely and give peace of mind to their caregivers and loved ones.
Since the onset of the pandemic, we immediately put our emergency housing plan into action to ensure families could sustain their homes due to the loss of a loved one, a loss of income, or unexpected medical expenses.
Thanks to our team, 6,714 families impacted by the pandemic no longer at risk losing their homes. That amounts to over $33.3 million in relief delivered across our community.
Capital Area Housing Partnership is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit developing strong, diverse neighborhoods with a focus on affordable housing, homeownership, and financial security in mid-Michigan.
Since 1992, we have endured in revitalizing our neighborhoods and delivering affordable housing opportunities to the Greater Lansing region. We've made a difference in expanding the availability of quality affordable homes through significant real estate development, homeownership and financial self-sufficiency programs, and community engagement.
We have built and rehabilitated multi-and single-family homes, delivered housing and financial literacy education, provided emergency assistance to our neighbors in need, and have helped our elderly residents & persons with disabilities regain independence.
Our job is not just about bricks and mortar. We know achieving the dream of a place to call home can be exciting and challenging. We see it as an equal right and have developed effective programs with our partners to help families and individuals along their journey.
Mid-Michigan is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis, and we remain steadfast in transforming possibilities for people and our communities.
