CITY OF EAST LANSING HOMEOWNERS

Do you have a home in need of repairs but cannot quite come up with the funds to complete them? Funding is available to eligible City of East Lansing homeowners for necessary repairs to their home. Assistance to qualified homeowners includes help determining necessary repairs, selecting a contractor at a fair price, and ensuring repairs are completed.

TYPES OF REPAIRS CAN INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Repairs or upgrades to improve energy efficiency

• Replacement of aging major mechanical systems

• Exterior repairs like new siding, windows and porch stairs

• Repairs that improve the health and safety of occupants

• Modifications to make the home more accessible for people with disabilities 

• Treatment of lead-based or asbestos hazards

• Repairs needed to rectify code violations

REPAIRS THAT CANNOT BE MADE INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Purchase of new appliances

• New construction

• Luxury improvements 

​

FUNDING LIMITS: 

​

If you meet program requirements, funding for home repairs can be between $1,000 to $24,999. 

​

ELIGIBILITY:

​

• Meet program income limits - must earn less than 80% of area median income. (see chart below) 

• Home must be within East Lansing city limits

​

MAXIMUM HOUSEHOLD INCOME LIMITS:

​

​1 Person - $52,500

2 Persons - $60,000

3 Persons​​​​ - $67,500

4 Persons - $74,950

5 Persons - $80,950

6 Persons - $86,950
