Elvin Caldwell Jr. studied Political Science and History at Kalamazoo College. Elvin started his professional career in Sales and excelled within a corporate environment. In 2014 he decided to step outside of his comfort zone, and walked away from a comfortable Corporate Business Development job in order to pursue his passion to work in education and youth development at the Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy – Former Michigan School for the Blind. Elvin is currently the School Community Liaison for the Mid-Michigan Leadership Academy. While studying at Kalamazoo, Elvin worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA, writer and researcher for the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership, and a member of both the college Cross Country Team (Captain) and Men's Basketball Team.  After college Elvin interned for the Darryl Buchanan for Mayor Campaign in 2011, Retain Judge Crawford campaign in 2012 and in 2017 Elvin ran his campaign for Lansing City Council. Elvin has a professional background in sales and business development. Elvin is a mentor, founder of the Young Men Academy, and a member of Men Making a Difference, a nonprofit that organizes events for professional men to serve in the community.
